About this event
Tortolita Mountains: Cochie Spring Trail. Rating: B. Pace: Moderate [456, 07:30 AM, $5]. The hike begins in the Wild Burro hikers parking area of the Ritz Carlton/Tortolitas and proceeds along walking paths alongside Secret Spring Drive and Boulder Spring Road before becoming a hiking trail ascending the Upper Javelina Trail. The Upper Javelina Trail provides views of the Tucson Mtns and Boboquiveri Peak to the south. After a short hike on the Wild Mustang Trail, hikers join the Cochie Spring Trail and continue several miles to the remains of a dam past a windmill. Hikers will experience a quiet mountain wilderness. The return is via the same route to the junction with the Hotel Spur Trail. Here we descend to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and finish up on a walking path alongside the hotel approach road to our cars. Hike 11.2 miles; trailhead elevation 2810 feet; net elevation change 765 feet; accumulated gain 1880 feet; RTD 44 miles.
